Platini happy seeing Agnelli family reject Tether offer for Juventus

Juventus great Michel Platini is happy seeing the Agnelli family refuse to sell up.

Minority shareholders Tether have announced they've made an offer to buyout the Agnelli's majority ownership.

But Exor, Juve's holding company, stated within hours of Tether's annoucement that the club was not for sale.

Speaking with Il Giornale, Platini said: "An agreement? I don't believe it. I'm even proud that John Elkann (Exor chief exec and Agnelli family member) has already rejected the offer. Selling Juventus is impossible. People are still asking me about it today. A comeback?0

"I've considered it, but my family comes first, and at seventy, I can't, and we can't, embark on a new adventure, even if the temptation is strong. That doesn't mean I'll leave Juventus, though.

“Juventus is the history of Italian and international football, and Juventus is Agnelli, a unique, almost exclusive phenomenon, born over a century ago and destined to endure. You can't sell emotions, fans, a tradition, and John Elkann knows that very well.

"I don't know these gentlemen who want to buy Juventus. The world of modern finance is still uncharted territory; it must be studied with the utmost care and caution. I repeat, the utmost caution. I can't predict the future, but I'm sure John won't give in to any offer from these minority shareholders .”
