Tottenham ready to break transfer record to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder

Tottenham are reportedly willing to smash their transfer record in order to lure midfielder Pablo Barrios away from Atletico Madrid.

Spurs manager Thomas Frank is hoping to relieve some pressure by adding fresh legs to his lethargic midfield options.

According to Spanish outlet Fichajes, the North London club have identified Barrios, 22, as the perfect man to do just that.

It’s understood that the Atletico Madrid man has a €120 million release clause in his contract, although it’s unlikely Spurs would be willing to pay so much.

Still, it would likely take a club record bid to persuade Atletico to sell of their best players, with the current highest transfer fee Spurs have paid being 365 million for Dominic Solanke.
