AC Milan transfer chief opens up on Mike Maignan contract stalemate

AC Milan sporting director Igli Tare has provided a brief update on the future of goalkeeper Mike Maignan as he enters the final six months of his contract.

Maignan, 30, was subject to significant interest from Chelsea in the summer transfer window but ultimately remained in Italy.

The France international is yet to put pen to paper on a new deal, however, with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season.

Speaking to DAZN after their 2-2 Serie A draw with Sassuolo, Tare provided a brief update, saying: "I’ve never heard €8m net request as salary from Mike.0

“He’s a leader, a top guy, he’s happy at AC Milan and we’d be happy to keep him. We are in active talks."
