La Liga chief Tebas backs Alonso amid Real Madrid crisis and sacking rumours

La Liga president Javier Tebas has given his support to under fire Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso amid rumours he could be sacked.

Alonso, 44, is already under pressure at Real Madrid, just six months after the highly rated coach was brought in to replace Carlo Ancelotti.

It’s understood that several members of the Real Madrid dressing room are unhappy with the way they’re being coached and prefer the Italian’s hands off style.

Just two wins in their last five games across all competitions haven’t done Alonso any favours either, but Tebas backs him to turn things around.

"I have seen this movie many times before,” he said.0

“Real Madrid is a team that knows how to overcome situations. Xabi Alonso has Madrid DNA and I believe that he, the players and the club will move forward. They have had that mentality since they were children and Xabi has lived it from home."

"Let him continue to be himself," Tebas added when asked what advice he would give.

"He is a coach who has triumphed and it is not easy to do so in a Bundesliga with the level of competition that exists.

"He is perfectly prepared to carry this forward. I encourage him and Real Madrid, because they always get out of these situations."
