Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has suggested that the club replace him if he stops scoring in the future.

Last week, Premier League legend Alan Shearer sent a special message to Haaland after the striker became the fastest player to join the Premier League 100 goals club.0

The Norwegian also reached 10, 25 and 50 goals quicker than anyone else in Premier League history, statistics which epitomize how the forward has taken over the English top flight.0

However, speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Haaland admitted that even though he is in fine form at the top of the Premier League scoring charts, the club would replace him if he ever stopped finding the back of the net.0

"But again, as I said before, I’m the striker of City. I have to score goals. If not, they have to replace me.0

"Because if I’m not delivering the goals and the things they need, they have to replace me. So there is a lot of pressure on me to deliver, you know, and to do the job.”0

Haaland already has 20 goals to his name this season across all competitions, having hit the ground once again this season. There is zero threat of the forward being replaced anytime soon but the thought must be in the back of his mind every time he fails to bag a goal during 90 minutes.0

Shearer admitted in the past that Haaland has a very strong chance of breaking his record as the Premier League’s top scorer.0

"Haaland could definitely break my Premier League goal record. There's no doubt that, if he does another seven or eight years, maybe even less, then he'll have a brilliant chance of breaking it.0

"There are so many ifs and buts, but absolutely, if Haaland was to stay in the Premier League another six or seven years, then he's definitely someone who could, and probably will break my record."0
