A female defendant has been imprisoned after making false claims of pregnancy to extort money from former Tottenham forward Son Heung-min.
According to prosecutors, the fraudster obtained £200,000 from the captain of the South Korean national team and later attempted to extort additional funds.
A four-year prison sentence was given to a woman convicted of blackmailing Son Heung-min.
Yang, a woman in her twenties, was seen at the Seoul Central District Court earlier this year for a hearing related to her arrest warrant.

Prosecutors said Yang, a woman in her twenties aspiring to be a WAG, sent Son an ultrasound scan and threatened to publicly announce that she was expecting his child unless he provided payment.
According to Yonhap News Agency, she spent the fraudulently obtained money on luxury and designer products before attempting, with an accomplice, to extort an additional £35,000 (70 million won) this year.
She has been sentenced to four years in prison.
Her male accomplice, identified as Yong, received a two-year prison sentence.
Both individuals have been held in detention since May.

Judge Im Jeong-bin stated that Yang used “extreme means” to damage Son’s reputation.
“Her actions went beyond simple threats or monetary demands—she escalated the situation by contacting media outlets and advertising agencies, taking advantage of Son’s public profile,” said Judge Im.
The judge added that Son “experienced significant psychological distress as the case became public.”
Local media reported that Son, who now plays for Los Angeles FC after a record transfer from Tottenham earlier this year, testified in a closed court session last month.
The court noted that Yang never verified the paternity of the child, and it remains unknown whether she was ever pregnant.
Local media have speculated that the alleged pregnancy was terminated.
According to previous statements from Son’s agency, the player was previously acquainted with the woman and was confronted with a monetary demand supported by “falsified evidence.”
