Atletico Madrid set to Rival Chelsea for Valentin Barco but Big Hurdle Stands in Their Way

Atletico Madrid are looking to rival Chelsea for the signing of Strasbourg defender Valentin Barco but face an uphill battle.

Barco, 21, joined Brighton back in 2024, but after an unsuccessful spell and loans to Sevilla and then Strasbourg, the Ligue 1 side opted to sign him permanently.

The left-back turned defensive midfielder has since established himself as one of the most exciting young talents in France.

According to Caughtoffside, Atletico Madrid are keen on signing Barco but will have to beat Strasbourg’s BlueCo sister club to his signature.

The report adds that Chelsea were interested in signing Barco in the summer, while Bayern Munich have sent scouts to watch him on several occasions.
