Arne Slot breaks his silence after Mo Salah's explosive interview

Liverpool manager Arne Slot faced the press for the first time since Mohamed Salah's explosive interview after their 3-3 Premier League draw with Leeds on Saturday (December 6).

The 33-year-old held nothing back after he was benched for a third consecutive game as Liverpool blew their two-goal lead to draw 3-3 at Elland Road.

Salah sensationally claimed that he had been thrown under the bus for his side’s poor form, saying that he no longer has a relationship with manager Slot.

The Egyptian has been left at home as Liverpool travel to Italy to take on Serie A giants Inter Milan on Tuesday (December 9).

Speaking ahead of Liverpool’s Champions League tie with Inter, Slot fielded plenty of questions regarding the situation.

When asked Salah's dramatic claims, the Liverpool head coach said: 0“The only one who can answer the question (about whether Salah is referring to Slot being the one to throw him under the bus) is Mo himself. I can guess but I don't think that's the right thing to do at this moment in time.

“We let him know that he's not travelling with us, so that was the only communication that has been there from us to him. Of course, before Saturday, the two of us have spoken a lot, sometimes longer, sometimes shorter."

Slot also said that he does not believe the relationship between the two has broken, despite Salah’s implication that it had.

“I haven't felt that at all until Saturday evening for sure,” Slot continued.0

“Because I think when I didn't play him anymore, usually players don't like the manager that much. But he was very respectful to my staff members, to his teammates, and he trained really hard.

“So, to an extent it was a surprise for me when I heard after the game that he gave the comments he gave. But, as I said, it's not the first and not the last time that when a player doesn't play, I'm not sure if he was emotional or not, but that he said something similar to what he did.

“But I think my reaction to that is also clear, and that he's not here with us tonight.”

When asked if Salah has played his last game for Liverpool, Slot said: “I have no clue. I cannot answer that question at this moment in time.”
