Serie A duo join European elite in race to sign AZ Alkmaar's Kees Smit

Atalanta and Como are reportedly ready to battle it out with some of the biggest clubs in Europe to sign AZ Alkmaar's wonderkid Kees Smit.

Smit, 19, is one of the highest rated young players to come out of the Netherlands in years, and several clubs are hoping to lure him away.

According to a report from Italian outlet Calciomercato, Atalanta and Cesc Fabregas’ Como are the latest sides to show an interest.

The Serie A duo will have a mountain to climb if they want to sign him, however, with the likes of Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Barcelona all keen.

Smit, a midfielder that has been likened to Pedri, is valued at around €20 million by AZ Alkmaar, with his contract set to expire in 2028.
