Pep Guardiola opens up on Bernanrdo Silva's uncertain Man City future

Man City boss Pep Gueardiola has opened up on Bernardo Silva's future at the club, hinting that the midfielder could leave next summer.

The 31-year-old’s current Man City contract is set to expire at the end of the season, with no current talks over a new deal.

Silva’s boyhood club Benfica are said to be interested in bringing him back to Lisbon and would be able to negotiate a ‘pre-agreement’ from January 1st.

Guardiola still seems to rely on the playmaker, starting him in eight of their opening 12 Premier League games, in which he has provided two assists.

Speaking ahead of their game with Leeds United on Saturday (November 29), Guardiola refused to rule out whether he will leave or not.

He said: "I want the best for Bernardo, and if he wants to stay at City I will be more than delighted and happy. I want the best for him. He spent 9 years here, at the end he will decide with the club what is the best."
