Pep Guardiola admits rotation in Man City defeat to Bayer Leverkusen 'too much'
Man City manager Pep Guardiola has taken responsibility for his side's shock 2-0 Champions League defeat to Bayer Leverkusen on Tuesday (November 25).
Guardiola made ten changes to the starting eleven that lost 2-1 to Newcastle in the Premier League over the weekend.
Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, and Jeremy Doku, among others, all dropped to the bench only to come on later as City lost 2-0 to Bayer Leverkusen at the Etihad.
Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Guardiola took responsibility for the defeat, admitting the sheer number of changes might have been ‘too much.’
"It belongs to us," he said.
"I take full responsibility, still I think the players that started were exceptional players but we missed something needed at the highest level. We now have to fight for the next games.
"They (Leverkusen) were good. In general we did very good things as well, we had more chances than them, but they were half-chances.
"I have to accept it. If we win it wouldn't be a problem so I have to accept it that maybe it's a lot but I think playing every two or three days we need to (make changes) but seeing the result, maybe it's too much."
