Bayern Munich chief Freund: We did try for Antony

Bayern Munich chief Christoph Freund has confirmed Antony's claims of a late attempt to beat Real Betis to his signing in the final days of the summer market.

Antony admits he took a call from Bayern coach Vicent Kompany as Manchester United were in talks to sell him to Betis.

And Freund confirmed the story, revealing to Sky Deutschland: "That period wasn't exactly quiet. A lot happened.

"We looked at several players, Antony was among them. There was also a discussion. But that's all in the past."

He added, 0"We are very happy with how the squad is currently set up. We know what that period was like, but in the end we came out of it well and are satisfied."
