Alan Shearer slams Man Utd for overpaying for flop Sesko: That was a lot of money!

Premier League legend Alan Shearer has ripped into Manchester United for paying over the top for Benjamin Sesko

United agreed to pay 374M to RB Leipzig during the summer window as they brought in a striker, something fans were crying out for after the departure of Rasmus Hojlund and failed signing of Joshua Zirkzee.0

However, after scoring just two goals in 12 appearances for the Red Devils, many are turning on Sesko who, at just 22 years old, is being touted as a flop.0

Speaking to Betfair,0Shearer, who scored 260 Premier League goals during his career, has suggested that United may have well overpaid for Sesko who has not impressed so far.0

"One player that must do better for United is Benjamin Sesko. They paid 70 odd million for him.

"That was a lot of money, I know it’s the market, but it was too much. He’s had a tough start and I don’t expect huge things from him to be honest.0

"I think he’s a good player but I’m not sure he’s any more than that. He should have scored a couple more goals than he has so far. It’s been a tough start for him, especially considering the money United paid."0

Sesko has scored two league goals so far, despite the majority of his appearances coming from off the bench. He made his debut against Manchester City in September and notched his first goal against Brentford but has since failed to live up to expectations.0

Amorim is expected to deliver an update on Sesko later this week after he picked up a knee injury against Tottenham, He addresses the media ahead of United's return to Premier League action against Everton.0

The United boss has revealed that he is "relaxed" about Sekso's start at the club because he "has more potential" than he first thought as he keeps faith in the young striker who has bags of potential.0
