Xabi explains holding back Endrick, Gonzalo for Real Madrid stalemate at Rayo

Real Madrid coach Xabi Alonso defended holding back his young strike pair for their 0-0 draw at Rayo Vallecano on Saturday.

Despite the stalemate, Xabi left Endrick and Gonzalo Garcia on the bench for the game.

Both young forwards have been linked with January departures due to their lack of minutes this season.

Xabi said, "We had other attackers on the pitch who can create danger.

"We know where we are, and in good times and bad, we need to know how to balance things; it's a long season. The demands are extremely high, but we live with them and prepare.

"I'm concerned about wanting to continue growing, improving, and engaging in positive and constructive self-criticism. We all know where we are and what we want. It's November, and we still have a long way to go; we need to be demanding of ourselves and also moderate our approach."
