Southampton sack Will Still after 16 games in charge
Southampton have sacked manager Will Still after just 16 games in charge, with the Championship promotion hopefuls languishing in 21st place. The 33-year-old managed only four wins during a torrid start to life back in England, and Saturday's 2-0 home defeat to Preston proved to be his final match in charge as the Saints turn to interim boss Tonda Eckert.
Southampton have confirmed the departure of Still just five months after his appointment, bringing a swift end to his brief and turbulent spell at St. Mary's. The 33-year-old, who joined the club from Lens in May, managed only four wins from 16 matches across all competitions, including just two victories in the Championship. A 2-0 defeat to Preston on Saturday, which was their fifth straight match without a win, proved to be the breaking point for the Saints' hierarchy.
Federico Chiesa transfer plans confirmed by Romano
Speaking on YouTube, Fabrizio Romano said: "It's been a strange start to the season for Chiesa, also because at the very beginning of the summer window, the plan was to leave, and then everything changed several times with Arne Slot and with the management.
"The desire of Federico Chiesa is to finish the season at Liverpool and then assess the situation in the summer. When Chiesa goes public and says 'I want to stay here, I want to compete for my spot', it's the reality. Chiesa wants to continue with Liverpool.
"Then, obviously, he wants to play - he needs to play - otherwise in January I would not be surprised if Italian clubs return to the table and try again to get Chiesa from Liverpool. They might try. But at the moment, the desire of Liverpool and Chiesa is to continue together. I don't think it's going to be an easy move in January, but interest remains and we have to follow the game time in the next two months."
Kane 'considering' Barcelona amid Bayern contract uncertainty

Harry Kane is considering a departure from Bayern Munich and could look to make a blockbuster switch to Barcelona. The English striker has been in ruthless goalscoring form this season and may look to experience a new league while he remains at the top of his game. Kane is mulling over the possibility of a new contract at the German giants, but his future remains in the balance.
Kane is contracted to Bayern until June 2027, but has a release clause in his deal that could allow him to leave the club for as little as £57 million (€65m) from next summer. There will no doubt be a number of Europe's biggest sides chasing the goal machine's signature and Barcelona have emerged as one of the leading contenders.
The Blaugrana will need a new striker to lead their forward line should Robert Lewandowski depart the club at the end of his contract, expiring in June 2026. According to SPORT, Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez is their top target, but he could prove too costly to take from the Spanish capital and bring to Catalunya. Manchester City's Erling Haaland also appears beyond the financial muscle of cash-strapped Barcelona.
Barcelona make demand to Rashford in order to finalise permanent move
Marcus Rashford has made a sensational start to his Barcelona career, reigniting his form with 12 goal contributions in just 13 appearances since joining on loan from Manchester United. The 28-year-old has openly expressed his desire to make the move permanent, though reports have suggested that the Catalan giants are set to make demands to Rashford to complete the transfer.
Barcelona's pursuit of a permanent deal for Rashford comes amid ongoing financial challenges that continue to shape their transfer policy. Despite their admiration for his impact, the club's strict salary cap rules mean a permanent move hinges on the forward accepting a drastic wage reduction. Rashford currently earns over £300,000 a week at Manchester United, well above what Barcelona can accommodate under La Liga's economic controls.
The Catalan giants, who have spent the last few seasons restructuring contracts and trimming their wage bill, see Rashford's situation as a balancing act. Club sources have reportedly told SPORT that the transfer fee itself, believed to be around £30 million, is not an obstacle, but the issue lies in long-term affordability. Barcelona's sporting department is keen to offer Rashford a multi-year deal to spread the cost, but that would require his full cooperation on salary adjustments.
O'Neil in line for stunning Wolves return
Wolves have sacked Vitor Pereira after a disastrous start to the Premier League season, and are now eyeing a shock reunion with Gary O'Neil, the man they dismissed less than a year ago. O'Neil, who guided Wolves to safety in 2023-24, could make a sensational comeback as the club's hierarchy scrambles to keep the club in the top flight.
The dismissal comes just ten months after Pereira replaced O'Neil, with the club now considering reappointing the very man he succeeded. Per The Athletic, O'Neil remains highly regarded by Wolves' owners Fosun for the work he did in stabilising the side during his first spell, guiding them to 14th place in 2023-24. Also in contention is former Wolves defender and current Middlesbrough boss Rob Edwards, though his appointment would require compensation, while ex-Boro manager Michael Carrick is another name under consideration.
Wolves line up move to appoint Rodgers after sacking Pereira
According to multiple media reports, former Liverpool and Leicester City manager Rodgers is poised to make a comeback to the Premier League after three years, as Wolves are considering appointing the Irish manager as their next permanent head coach. Earlier this week, Scottish Premiership giants Celtic announced that Rodgers had tendered his resignation, news which raised eyebrows across Scottish football.
LaLiga club set sights on landing high-flying Iraola
According to La Razon, La Liga side Athletic Club are plotting a succession plan as veteran coach Ernesto Valverde is all set to exit the team next summer. Valverde, 61, is in the final year of his current contract and has yet to hold talks over a new deal with the club.
Accordingly, the Basque club have started their search for Valverde's replacement and their sporting director is considering making a move for the Bournemouth head coach. The club also have Rayo Vallecano manager Inigo Perez and Elche's Eder Sarabia on their shortlist, although Perez is likely to put pen to paper on a new Vallecano contract and stay back at the club on a long-term basis.
Official: Wolves part ways head coach Pereira
Wolves have made it official now that head coach Vitor Pereira has been relieved of his duties following a disastrous start to the 2025-26 campaign.
The statement from the club read: "Wolves have parted company with head coach Vitor Pereira, after a winless start to the 2025/26 season. Upon his arrival at Molineux last December, Pereira and his coaches made an immediate impact, guiding the team to a successful second half of the Premier League campaign. However, results and performances this term have fallen below acceptable standards, and as a result a change in leadership was deemed necessary. All eight of Pereira's backroom staff have also left the club."
Bayern director opened up on Upamecano's future
Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl gave his verdict on French defender Dayot Upamecano's future at the club, who is in the final year of his contract in Munich.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Eberl said: "We are working and making sure we do everything we can to make Dayot Upamecano sign a new contract."
Spurs & Chelsea poised to battle for Porto striker Aghehowa
Premier League rivals Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are all set to go head-to-head in the transfer market to secure a move for FC Porto's star striker Samu Aghehowa.
Aghehowa enjoyed a stellar debut campaign in Portugal as he scored 27 goals across all competitions and provided three assists. In the 2025-26 season, the 21-year-old has scored nine goals in 11 appearances. As Aghehowa continues with stunning form, he has attracted interest from Chelsea, alongside Tottenham Hotspur, according to Correio da Manha.
