Celtic’s Cameron Carter-Vickers out up to five months with Achilles injury
U.S. international Cameron Carter-Vickers will be sidelined for three to five months after suffering an Achilles injury, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers confirmed on Friday.
The injury occurred Thursday during Celtic’s Europa League clash with Sturm Graz and could put the player’s chances of making the U.S. World Cup roster in jeopardy.0
Rodgers explained that the 27-year-old reported pain during the match, but with no substitutions left and Celtic holding a narrow one-goal lead, he remained on the pitch.0
"We wanted to take off Cameron, but we could only make one substitution in the second half. Ideally, we would have taken him off," Rodgers said after the match.
Competing with Miles Robinson and Mark McKenzie for the U.S. third center-back spot, Carter-Vickers now faces a significant setback.
The defender, who earned 18 caps and was part of the 2022 World Cup squad, has yet to feature for the USMNT under manager Lionel Pochettino.
