Tottenham's head of scouting hails Lucas Bergvall as "a genuine generational talent"

Tottenham's head of scouting Robert Mackenzie has praised Lucas Bergvall after bringing him to the club.

It was announced back in February last year that Spurs had reached an agreement with Swedish club Djurgarden for Bergvall for around 38.5M in what now looks like an absolute steal for the young defender.0

Reports stated that Spurs Barcelona to the 19-year-old’s services and will be happy with snapping him up and tying him down to a long term deal. The Spanish side thought they had a deal for Bergvall wrapped up until Tottenham swooped in for one of the best moves the club has made in recent years.0

“I remember me and Johan were on Flight Radar looking at whether his flight was actually taking off from Barcelona," Mackenzie told the TGG podcast.0

"You were like, ’Is he on that plane? Is he going back or is he just going to stay and sign?’0

“Because you’re like, ‘If he gets back to Stockholm, we’ve got a real chance here, because you don’t go there if you’re just gonna sign.’ The news then came through that his choice was us."0

With Lucas, here is an unbelievable talent. I’m very cautious, when credibility is everything and your opinion is all you have as your badge of honour, but I think in the case of Lucas Bergvall here is a genuine generational talent.0
