MAYA Jama’s boyfriend Ruben Dias was slammed for posting footage of a bullfight after his Portuguese holiday with the Love Island presenter.

The Manchester City defender, 28, shared the clip showing eight men surrounding one enraged beast.

Football fans slammed the video, saying it was cruel to the animal and that they felt let down by the £53million player.

Dias welcomed Maya, 31, to his homeland during last week’s international break.

But sources said the clip was filmed on a previous trip without the ITV host and in no way condoned the “barbaric” practice.

Bullfighting is still legal in Portugal after being banned in dozens of countries.

But unlike in Spain, the bulls are not killed by the matador. Instead they are often slaughtered later.

One appalled fan wrote under Dias’s video on Instagram: “So disappointed to see the bullfighting. Unfollowing.”

Other messages hitting out at the couple disappeared from the footballer’s account.

In August, young bullfighter Manuel Maria Trindade, 22, was killed in Lisbon in his first contest after being thrown by the bull’s horns and rammed against a wall.

In countries where the sport is traditional, there are protests slamming the subduing, immobilising or killing of the bull.
