Atletico Madrid file official complaint against Arsenal after being left with cold showers at the Emirates

ANGRY Atletico Madrid have filed an official complaint against Arsenal to Uefa… for leaving them with cold showers.

Diego Simeone's side are in London for Tuesday night's Champions League clash at the Emirates.

As is customary, the LaLiga giants trained on the Emirates pitch on the evening before the game.

Following their session, Atletico stars were greeted by cold water coming from the dressing room showers.

According to Spanish outlet Marca, the Spanish side were left "furious", surprised" and "confused" that such a modern stadium should lack such a basic requirement.

Atleti officials alerted Arsenal at 6.45pm, shortly after their training session had started, that there was no hot water.

Simeone's training session was due to finish at 7.30pm but the players returned to their dressing room 15 minutes early to discover the problem had not been fixed.

SunSport understands hot water was restored by 7.25pm.

But Simeone and his sweaty stars had already decided to head for the team bus and to wash at their hotel.

Arsenal swiftly apologised to the Spanish club, stressing that this had not happened before.

Ironically, over the years, Simeone is known for employing the dark arts on the pitch.

Although some of his stars were angry as they left the ground while still wet and dirty after the training session, it seems it was a genuine issue at the stadium.

Arsenal go into the game having won their first two Champions League games while Atleti suffered defeat on their previous visit to England last month, losing 3-2 to Liverpool.

Manager Simeone was handed a one-match ban by Uefa after clashing with home fans by the dug-out before being sent off.

While Atletico weren't happy with the hospitality on offer at the Emirates, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta did gush over their boss Simeone during his pre-match press conference.

The Spaniard, 43, said: "Well, obviously (Simeone) is someone that I look up to and learn from in many situations and what is for me outstanding is his passion.

"I think for how long he has been in the game and [at] the same club, with the same players, how you still have that handle and that capacity to transmit such an energy and willingness to win.

"It is a very tough environment that we live in, and to keep convincing players you have to be extraordinarily well.

"I do not know him personally but everything that I heard about him is that he is so good at doing that, that is one of the reasons why you are able to sustain at that level.

"I think what he has done since he got to Atletico has been outstanding, not only what he has achieved but the way he has done it.

"I think the identity that he has created to the club, to the team, the spirit, I think they are very simple and clear to identify and that is because the manager is very much them.

"That is extremely difficult to achieve for a short period of time and to do it for 14 years, I think he has been there now, he has done something incredible; a pleasure to meet him."

Arsenal will be looking to continue their perfect start in the Champions League, having already beaten Athletic Club and Olympiacos 2-0.

Atletico, meanwhile, began with a 3-2 defeat at Liverpool before bouncing back with an emphatic 5-1 triumph over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Spanish capital.
