David & Victoria Beckham incur wrath of neighbours after building private beach on their Cotswolds estate

THE Beckhams face a planning row after neighbours saw on TV they had installed a beach at their garden lake.

David and Victoria had permission to build the lake at their £12million mansion but planners are checking if they mentioned adding 1,000 sq ft of sand at its edge.

The 43-acre Cotswolds estate near Chipping Norton is usually safe from prying eyes.

But the beach was in the background as ex-England skipper Becks, 50, and his fashion designer wife, 51, chatted in new Netflix documentary Victoria Beckham.

A source said: “Neighbours think it is totally out of character for the surrounding area and they are very twitchy around adhering to the rules.”

West Oxfordshire district ­council confirmed: “A report of a planning breach has been received and it will now be investigated”.

When the couple had the lake dug in 2021 they were told it must be surrounded by wildflower meadows and native trees resulting in an “overall informal and natural character, with subtle expressions of an organic parkland-style landscaping tying the lake to the house”.

A source close to the ­Beckhams said they had not heard from the council and had followed regulations to the letter.

The beach sits between a wooden jetty and a safari tent made by a firm owned by film mogul friend Guy Ritchie.

He was ordered to remove similar tents from around lakes at Ashcombe House, Wilts, after they were spotted in a trailer for his Netflix series The Gentlemen.
