Enzo Maresca unfazed by red card, opens up on Chelsea pressure
Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca says he has no regrets about being sent off for his passionate celebration after his side’s thrilling 2-1 win over Liverpool, admitting the moment was “worth it.”
The Italian was shown a red card after sprinting down the touchline to join in the jubilant scenes at Stamford Bridge following Estevao Willian’s dramatic late winner, which sealed a memorable night for the Blues.
Maresca will now serve a suspension when Chelsea visit Nottingham Forest on Saturday, October 18, as the Premier League resumes after the international break.
“It was a huge emotion (against Liverpool). It's my second season at Chelsea and it was the first time we won at home in the last minute,” he said.
“The sending-off? (I’ve said) many times, football is passion, instinct. I probably didn't have time to think. It was an instinctive reaction, but I think it was worth it.”
Chelsea return to action next weekend with a trip to struggling Nottingham Forest, before facing Ajax in their next Champions League encounter on Wednesday, October 22.
