Mbappe speaks on when he will be France's all-time top scorer: Maybe tomorrow, who knows?

Real Madrid and France star Kylian Mbappe has opened up on when he believes he will become his country's top scorer.

Earlier this year, Mbappe equalled Thierry Henry's number of France goals at the age of 26 as he buried a solo effort in the 82nd minute to double France's lead in Friday's 2-0 World Cup qualifying win over Ukraine.0

Now, he currently sits in second position, having scored 52 goals in 92 games. This put him behind Olivier Giroud's record of 57 in 137 appearances for his country, which will not change now he is retired.0

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, the Madrid star admits that he thinks the record will be broken and it is just a matter of time.0

"I'm not breaking any taboos when I say I can score goals against anyone. Every match has its own reality. (Azerbaijan) is a team that held Ukraine to a draw, where we didn't have it easy. The stakes are higher than just scoring goals, even if we're not going to deprive ourselves of that.0

"I think I'll beat (Giroud), but when, I don't know. Maybe tomorrow, who knows? Maybe later. It's something that will come naturally and I'll move on from there."0

Mbappe is five shy of Giroud's all-time Bleus record, meaning that the record is unlikely to be broken this week unless he the striker is absolutely relentless.0

Even if the record is likely to be held after the international break, Mbappe is well on track to surpass Giroud and like he says it is a matter of time before he makes history before his 27th birthday later this year.0
