Carragher says it is "inevitable" that Man Utd boss Amorim is sacked before Christmas
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has revealed that he thinks Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim will be sacked before Christmas.
United eased the pressure on Amorim with a 2-0 win over Sunderland at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon as the Portuguese head coach survives another week in charge.0
Amorim is about to celebrate his first anniversary as boss in Manchester in a year that has been filled with ups and downs, but mostly downs as he tries to steer the club in the right direction.0
One shocking statistic is that Amorim has steered the Red Devils to just six Premier League victories in the last eight months and all of which have been against 10 men or a team that has been relegated or promoted.0
Speaking on The Overlap Fan Debate, Carragher believes that Amorim has not been good enough and if his dire form continues then he will be gone bu Christmas.0
"I don't like saying a manager should be sacked – it's disrespectful and it's a man's job – but I'm at that point where I do think Ruben Amorim's job is untenable. It's inevitable that this is going to happen before Christmas.0
"His stats are unbelievable for a Manchester United manager – 50 games as Manchester United manager, he's only scored two more goals than he's conceded."0
The 40-year-old former Sporting CP boss is contracted until 2027 and if he were to be sacked, the club would have to fork out a huge pay out to release him from his current deal. 0
Only time will tell whether he will stay but what is certain is that results must improve or Carragher will be proven right which will only rub salt in the wounds.0
