Following the game, Mason Mount, who got himself on the scoresheet along with summer arrival Benjamin Sesko, asserted that the team is fully behind the under-pressure Amorim amid reports that he could face the axe.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Mount said: "We're 100% behind the gaffer. We've had some difficult results that hurt us, have been painful for the team, the staff and the fans, but today it was important to win. It needs to be – we thought after Chelsea it would be the start of something and then we go to Brentford and have a disappointing result. It starts today and we'll be working hard over the break. We want to get back-to-back wins, then three in a row and push on for the top four."

Howe hints at desire to re-sign Elliot Anderson
Eddie Howe has confessed that he would “love” to see Elliot Anderson return to Newcastle United. The 22-year-old midfielder, a product of the club’s academy, left St James’ Park in the summer of 2024 after the Magpies reluctantly agreed to sell him to for £35 million. The sale was part of Newcastle’s effort to comply with Premier League profitability and sustainability regulations.
"I don't know, but certainly from my perspective I would love him to," he said.
"I'm very respectful of the fact he is at another football club and I would never normally talk about a player in that way, so I won't change that stance.
"But yes, it is very regretful a player from the academy who had given so much – and the club had given so much too, the coaching staff, all those years here and how people tried to develop those talents – for him not to be utilised here is a real shame."
