Eddie Howe Keen on Newcastle Return for Elliot Anderson After Forest Move
Eddie Howe has admitted he would “love” to bring Elliot Anderson back to Newcastle, hinting at a possible return for the midfielder after his PSR-enforced move to Nottingham Forest.
Newcastle were forced to sell the now 22-year-old to Nottingham Forest for a reported 335 million last summer in a bid to remain within the Premier League’s PSR limitations.
As an academy product, Newcastle were able to put Anderson’s fee down as ‘pure profit’ to help avoid a potential points deduction.
Anderson has since flourishing at Forest, becoming a key player for the club and making his England debut earlier in the season.
Forest will travel to St James’ Park on Sunday (October 5) and Howe has admitted he would ‘love’ to have the midfielder back at the club.
“I don’t know (if the move will happen), but certainly from my perspective I would love him to,” he said.0
“It is very regretful a player from the academy who had given so much — and the club had given so much to — for him not to be utilised here is a real shame.0
“We had no choice but to make the sale, but it was not one we wanted to do. It didn’t sit right with me then and doesn’t sit right with me today.”
