Saliba cites TAA as reason behind Real Madrid snub
William Saliba has revealed why he chose to sign a new contract at Arsenal despite strong interest from Real Madrid, as he cited Trent Alexander-Arnold's move from Liverpool among his reasons.
After putting pen to paper on a new contract, Saliba said on Tuesday: "To be honest, I was not thinking about clubs from the outside. I wanted to stay here for more years. I was not focused on the other clubs. I'm focused on my club."
Saliba was also asked why he did not follow in Alexander-Arnold's footsteps and head to Madrid, to which the Frenchman said: "He won some titles with Liverpool, with me I didn't win anything here except the Community Shield. I want to stay here and win a lot of trophies. I love this club, I couldn't leave this club without giving something back, I've won nothing. I want to stay here and win."
Strand Larsen insists he could still leave Wolves
Jorgen Strand Larsen has admitted to being affected by Wolves' stance on a transfer away this summer as the club blocked his proposed move to Newcastle. At the end of the window, Strand Larsen stayed at Molineux and earlier this month he signed a new long-term contract. However, despite committing his future to Wolves, the Norwegian striker hinted that he could move on in future.
Speaking to VG, Strand Larsen said: "It has been turbulent this summer, of course. Personally, I think it was great to be done with it. Of course, you are a little affected, everyone has a dream of taking new steps. At the same time, I feel very safe and good here at Wolves. I got the captain’s armband today, and I feel that I am important to the team. But at the same time, you want to take new steps when you do well. The more years I do well at Wolves, the better my chances are in the future. Now it’s day by day to try to get better with my body, and then we’ll take it from there. Everyone wants to take new steps; it was a Champions League club we were talking about. But it will come again, and it will continue. The important thing is that the club showed confidence in me afterwards, and we solved that in a good way."
Barca deny financial 'penalty' if they refuse to sign Rashford
Barcelona sporting director Deco has provided details regarding Marcus Rashford's season-long loan move from Manchester United, confirming that the reigning La Liga champions will not have to pay any penalty should they decide not to sign the Englishman permanently next summer.
Speaking to Mundo Deportivo, Deco said: "He's on a simple loan, there's no penalty, and if we want him, we have an option to buy," said Deco. "It's too early to talk about decisions for next season, but what matters is that we're happy with him. What we thought he could bring to us, he's bringing. He's a very high-level player; he exploded very early, then he had great seasons at United, then he had years of more complicated management with changes of coaches, and perhaps he struggled too because they demanded a lot of things from him there. But we're happy with him; that's the most important thing. These aren't decisions for now; now it's time to focus on the games to come. A decision will be made, but that's not being discussed right now."
Antony claims Man Utd 'disrespected' him before Betis transfer
Antony claims to have been “disrespected” by Manchester United before his summer transfer to Real Betis was completed.
Antony has told El Desmarque: “They were very tough months in England, more than 40 days in the hotel, training separately… I feel like they disrespected me, but that’s not the point. I don’t want to create controversy; that’s life. I’m very grateful for the club; there were bad times, but also good times, with two titles. My family travelled to Seville four or five days before the deal was finalised; I had the house rented.”

Instead, the former midfielder expressed his admiration for Marcus Rashford, who ultimately arrived as the alternative signing.

In quotes carried by Mundo Deportivo, Deco said: “We are talking. Frenkie is really enjoying being here. He has matured on all levels, with his family, in the team. If you are a player with character, you don’t just want to stay because you are in Barcelona, but because you want to compete for titles, and he sees that he can compete for titles. He sees this and wants to stay here. At the club, we see him as a key player for the current project and the coming years, so I think we’ll get him to continue."
