Transfer news & rumours LIVE: Chelsea set to reignite Mike Maignan pursuit after Robert Sanchez's horror show vs Man Utd

Chelsea suffered a blow against Manchester United when goalkeeper Robert Sanchez was sent off, raising fresh doubts over their options between the posts. Although the Spaniard will only sit out the Carabao Cup clash with Lincoln City, the setback has reopened talk of the Blues reviving their pursuit of AC Milan's Mike Maignan.

Maignan, whose deal at San Siro runs out next year, will be free to negotiate with clubs outside Italy from January. Chelsea could look to move quickly, securing a pre-contract to beat rivals to his signature before bringing him in for free next summer. Enzo Maresca is said to be an admirer of the Frenchman and believes he would be a perfect fit for his system.

Aston Villa, Newcastle United, West Ham United vying for Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Aston Villa, Newcastle United and West Ham United are all interested in bringing Ruben Loftus-Cheek back to the Premier League.

According to a report from CaughtOffside, Ruben Loftus-Cheek could secure a return to the English top flight in the winter transfer window as Aston Villa, Newcastle United, and West Ham United are all keen on his signature. Given his consistent performances in Serie A, all three clubs are keen on bringing the former Chelsea star back to England.

Real Madrid need €65 million to sign Ryan Gravenberch

Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid will have to fork out €65 million to sign Liverpool midfield mainstay Ryan Gravenberch.

Real Madrid made quite a few additions to their squad in the recently concluded transfer window. While Xabi Alonso has a star-studded squad at his disposal, the Spanish manager is still not satisfied with the midfield options. He seeks more quality in the centre of the park, and the club have their eyes set on Ryan Gravenberch.

However, striking a deal with Liverpool won't be that straightforward, and according to a report from Fichajes, Real Madrid might have to fork out close to €65 million to sign the Dutch international, who has had a sensational rise under Arne Slot.

Tottenham learn what Gallagher has decided regarding January transfer

Tottenham Hotspur continue to be linked with Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, but a move in January is unlikely.

A report from Football Insider claims the 25-year-old midfielder is unwilling to leave the Spanish club during the January transfer window. He will look to push for a place in the starting line-up regularly.

Even though the World Cup is coming up next year, Gallagher does not wish to leave Atletico Madrid for regular game time midway through the season. The report claims that Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Manchester United are keen on the player.

Man Utd will block Mainoo's January exit

Journalist Pete O'Rourke has told Football Insider that Manchester United will block Kobbie Mainoo's proposed move to Newcastle United in the January transfer window.

O'Rourke said: "We reported in the summer window that Newcastle were one of the clubs that were looking at Mainoo. So obviously that interest hasn't really gone away and they will continue to monitor his situation at Old Trafford. United obviously blocked any potential move in the summer window because they felt they needed him as they were a bit short in midfield as it is. I can't see United being willing to let Mainoo leave again in the January transfer window."

Mourinho admits he didn't expect to take Benfica job

Jose Mourinho has claimed he always expected to return to Portugal at some point in his managerial career, but thought it would be in charge of the national team and not his new club Benfica.

Speaking after Benfica's victory over AVS at the weekend, Mourinho told Sky Sports News: "I'm honest, I always thought I would be back to Portugal. But I always thought I would come back to the national team. I knew that the national team would come sooner or later. It come before, I didn't, I couldn't accept. I was thinking one day it will happen. I think it is a natural consequence of my career. [But] it happened to be Benfica. A giant club."

Nuno 'holds talks' with West Ham

Nuno Espirito Santo has held talks with West Ham as head coach Graham Potter could be sacked following a series of poor results.

Following their home defeat to Palace on Saturday, the West Ham hierarchy has started to consider their options to replace Potter and have spoken to ex-Forest boss Nuno, according to The Times.

Liverpool's stance on Robertson revealed

Journalist Pete O'Rourke has revealed whether Liverpool are planning to part ways with experienced left-back Andy Robertson in the January transfer window.

Speaking to Football Insider, O'Rourke said: "Look, I don't see Atletico Madrid coming back in for Robertson in January. They've signed Matteo Ruggeri from Atalanta in the summer. So, they have Javi Galan at left-back as well. So, I don't imagine they'll be in the market for Robertson in January. But look, if he doesn't sign a new contract soon, he can speak to interested foreign clubs in January and then possibly leave on a free transfer. But I'm sure Liverpool right now won't want to lose Robertson, as I still feel he's got a role to play at Anfield.

Revealed: Why Man Utd won't sack Amorim

Journalist Pete O'Rourke has revealed why Manchester United are not planning to sack manager Ruben Amorim despite the club's poor start to the new season.

Speaking to Football Insider, O'Rourke said: " The club went and spent big to get Amorim, and spent big to sack Erik ten Hag, so they want to stick with their man. They don't want to have to sack him right now, they want to give him time to try and get things right. They backed him in the transfer window with a number of big-money signings as well, so they want to give him time to see if he can improve. The other thing you have to look at is that it will cost Man United a lot of money now to sack Amorim. He's under a long-term contract and United don't really want to do that having done that in the past, when they've been getting rid of managers, it has cost them a lot of money financially. And especially with PSR and FFP, you can't really go out and afford to sack managers costing you whatever double figures in millions."

Premier League clubs eyeing move for Loftus-Cheek

According to Caughtoffside, former Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek's future at AC Milan has come under the scanner since Massimiliano Allegri took charge of the Italian giants. The English midfielder is being linked with a move back to the Premier League, with clubs like West Ham, Newcastle and Aston Villa reportedly keen on signing the player.
