'He’s Not a Machine!' - Brighton’s Carlos Baleba Warned to 'Be Humble' Amid Man Utd Transfer Links

Carlos Baleba’s dip in form at Brighton has been linked to transfer interest from Manchester United, with manager Fabian Hurzeler reminding the young midfielder to “be humble.”

The 21-year-old was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford over the summer but United were ultimately turned off by Brighton’s 3100 million+ asking price.

Baleba has since struggled to replicate the form that earned him such a high price tag, coming off at half time in their 2-2 draw against Tottenham on Saturday (September 20).

Speaking to the press after the game, Hurzeler admitted that the interest from Man United has likely affected the young midfielder.

He told reporters: "For sure, when a young boy reads there is interest from Manchester United with a big, big offer, it might affect him deep, deep (down).0

“That’s also part of the development to understand that when you play well, there comes a big offer, there comes a big club who wants to have him.0

“But then to keep pushing, to be humble, stay here in Brighton, and try to make the next step with the team and that’s something we have to keep on working with him and therefore I can’t give you a clear answer if it’s really affected him or not.0

“But for sure, he’s a young boy and we need to understand he’s not a machine that if you click on then he always runs and off then he stops.0

“We need to understand his feelings, his emotions, where he comes from, and that’s our responsibility."
