FC Bayern München v Chelsea FC - UEFA Champions League 2025/26 League Phase MD1
Harry Kane created Champions League history as he fired Bayern Munich to a 3-1 victory over Chelsea on Wednesday evening. The 32-year-old scored in both halves as the German champions made a winning return to Europe’s elite club competition at the Allianz Arena.
Kane double downs Chelsea in Champions League opener
With Bayern already in front following an own goal from Trevoh Chalobah, Kane soon doubled Bayern’s lead from the penalty spot after he was brought down inside the area by Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo. And Kane then grabbed his second after the break as he latched onto a Serge Gnabry pass to fire past Robert Sanchez and seal all three points for Vincent Kompany’s Bayern.
Kane surpasses Man Utd legend Beckham with new landmark
Following his goalscoring exploits against Chelsea, Kane cemented his place as one of England’s greatest ever players by achieving an impressive landmark. The England captain has now been involved in more goals (53) than any other Englishman in Champions League history, surpassing Manchester United legend David Beckham.

Already reached double figures for goals in 2025-26
Kane’s brace against Chelsea maintained his remarkable start to 2025-26, with the striker having already achieved double figures for goals this season. The former Tottenham forward scored five goals in Bayern’s opening three Bundesliga games against RB Leipzig, Augsburg and Hamburg, while he also netted twice in the Bavarians’ victory over Wehen Wiesbaden in the German Cup and once in their win over Stuttgart in the German Super Cup.
