Campos explains PSG decision to sell Donnarumma to Man City

PSG chief Luis Campos has detailed the reasons for selling Gigio Donnarumma to Manchester City.

After refusing to meet Donnarumma's new contract demands, it was decided to sell the Italy goalkeeper to City on transfer deadline day.

Campos explained on RMC: "The club is more important than anyone else. That's changed at PSG. As for Donnarumma, a combination of circumstances led to this decision. When he asks for a salary at the level of his former PSG, not the current PSG...

"Our policy is very much based on merit: you earn more when you deserve it and when you play. We took the time to discuss the Gigio issue. We were obliged to find solutions if we couldn't reach an agreement with him."

He also said, "The club's stability won't change based on a player who wants to be different. We will protect PSG. We always want to play well and win matches. With this policy, everyone understands that the coach doesn't prioritize a player's status or background. Your background won't make you a starter at PSG. That's our policy."0
