Chelsea's plan for new signing Facundo Buonanotte has been revealed after signing the Argentine midfielder on a season-long loan deal from Brighton on deadline day. Buonanotte was close to sealing a temporary switch to newly-promoted Leeds United, but the Blues swept in to hijack the deal, which saw them pay a £2 million (€2.3m/$2.7m) loan fee for the Brighton sensation.

Buonanotte took part in a friendly match during the international break, where some of the Chelsea senior players, who did not join their national teams, competed against the U21s, and the new Blues signing scored three goals. He was later pulled on one side and was congratulated by his colleagues, according to The Athletic.

Buonanotte familiar with English conditions

Adjusting to the Premier League will not be an issue for the Argentine youngster as he has already played 71 Premier League matches and has spent two years in the country. He is also familiar with several of his colleagues, like Joao Pedro, Moises Caicedo and Robert Sanchez from their time at Brighton, while he is also on good terms with Argentina team-mates Enzo Fernandez and new Blues signing Alejandro Garnacho.

Maresca reveals Chelsea's plans for Buonanotte

Speaking about the new loan signing, Blues boss Enzo Maresca said: "He is a good player. I know him because he was in Leicester and I was there (before), so I have some contact there. He’s a player who can help us. We have so many competitions, so many games, that for sure he’s going to play games for us."
