Clichy: Cherki can replace De Bruyne at Man City

Former Manchester City fullback Gael Clichy says Rayan Cherki is the player to replace Kevin de Bruyne.

De Bruyne left City this past summer for Napoli just as Cherki was arriving from Lyon.

"If we talk about the quality of the player, I haven't seen anyone as good. It's a big statement, but I really feel that if he can develop his game without the ball, we can talk about a player who can reach Kevin De Bruyne's numbers," Clichy said, according to Goal.com.

“In tight spaces and key areas of the pitch he can create danger. And that’s exactly what you want at City."

But Clichy also sees an area where Cherki needs to improve.

"He has to show that he can perform without the ball. This was his weakness when he was with us in France and that's what people think of him in England. If Pep (Guardiola) can take him to another level in that game, he will be a huge asset."
