Eric Garcia Confirms Barcelona Contract and Hints at Future Captaincy

Eric Garcia has officially confirmed he is in talks over a new deal with Barcelona and hinted at a potential bid for the captaincy in the future.

Garcia, 24, looked poise to leave Barcelona before Hansi Flick took over last summer, but has since turned his career with the La Liga holders around.

The centre-back made 45 appearances across all competitions last season, popping up with five goals and three assists in the process.

Garcia’s current deal at the Camp Nou is set to expire next summer, but the club have no intention of letting him leave for free.

He has now confirmed that he is in talks with the club over a new deal, saying: “Everything will be discussed soon. We've started talking about a renewal.”

When asked about potential captaincy in the future he responded: “Captain? Who knows if I could be a candidate for captaincy in the future.”
