Reason Fenerbahce Pulled Plug on Deal for Tottenham’s Yves Bissouma Revealed

Fenerbahce president Ali Koc has revealed why the Turkish giants decided to pull out of a potential deal for Tottenham midfielder Yves Bissouma.

Several reports had suggested the 29-year-old was of interested to Fenerbahce and arch-rivals Galatasaray during the summer transfer window.

Bissouma’s future at Tottenham remains in doubt having seemingly fallen down the pecking order under Thomas Franks due to the arrival of Joao Palhinha.

Speaking to Fener Ajans, Fenerbahce chief Koc admitted Bissouma was top of their shopping list but a deal didn’t materialise due to his recent injury.

“We all want a number 8. Bissouma was close, but he got injured,” he said.0

“We want a smart number 8. She can distribute the ball intelligently and play box-to-box. We’re working on a young player. Transfers at Fenerbahce don’t end until the last minute.

"Those coming in and out never end. We’ll push the envelope until the last moment.”
