Ronaldinho's son Joao Mendes set to join Hull City in stunning move

Ronaldinho's son Joao Mendes de Assis Moreira has reportedly completed a move to Championship side Hull City.

The Hull Daily Mail reports that the 20 year old is expected to be part of the club's Under-21s set-up at Bishop Burton College after leaving Burnley earlier this summer where he made a number of appearances for Burnley’s Under-21 side.0

Speaking earlier this year, Mendes told ESPN that he had moved to England in part to escape the comparisons to his father at Barcelona as he forges his own path.0

“I want to be Jo3o, regardless of anything. I never tried to be my father, I never wanted to be my father. So to get away a bit from where he played (Bar7a) and what's close, I think it was a good start and a good step for me.0

“I think people on the outside want you to be something you're never going to be, whether you like it or not, right? It's good to be here.0

“My father was one of the best, if not the best, to ever play the game. So, being his son, being able to talk about him, is a source of pride. I try to do my own thing, I try not to put my father in the middle of things, I try to play my football my way, without pressure.”0

The left-sided player was among a raft of youngsters to be released by the club back in May when the Clarets announced their retained list and now he will join The Tigers in what is a fresh start under manager Sergej Jakirović.0
