Senne Lammens Explains Why He Chose Man Utd Despite Late Aston Villa Interest

Senne Lammens has revealed why he opted to join Manchester United, citing the “aura of the club” as the key factor, even amid late interest from Aston Villa.

The 23-year-old has been handed the unenviable task of restoring faith between the sticks for Ruben Amorim’s side following a string of torrid performances from Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir.

Lammens joined the club on transfer deadline day from Belgian club Royal Antwerp for a reported fee of 321.7 million, signing five-year deal.

According to the Daily Mail, Aston Villa made a late move to sign the Belgian from under United’s nose but Lammens would not be convinced.

Speaking to MUTV, he revealed why he decided to join the club, saying: "This is my dream move.

“When I was five, United were at the height of football. You keep in your memory how big Manchester United is.0

“When I heard they were interested, it was like a childhood dream. The club alone, the aura of the club, it’s massive. Being here today, seeing it, it’s a different level.0

“A big part is the stadium. You can feel the history when you walk into it. I’m looking forward to walking on the pitch for the first time and thinking about all the greats who have played there, especially goalkeepers."
