Man Utd fail with late attempt to sign Gallagher
Manchester United failed with a late attempt to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher on a season-long loan.
The Red Devils made a late enquiry regarding the availability of Gallagher, 25, ahead of the summer transfer window closing at 19:00 BST for Premier League clubs, according to journalist Ben Jacobs. The move includes a 50% sell-on clause on any future profit, ending weeks of tense negotiations over the player’s wages. Antony returns to Betis permanently after a successful loan spell, having revitalised his career in La Liga following a difficult stint at Old Trafford.
Real Betis and Manchester United reached an agreement that sees the winger leave Old Trafford for good, with the Premier League side refusing to sanction another loan. The deal comes with a significant wage reduction for Antony, who had been seeking compensation for the shortfall, and the Red Devils will not make any further payments to the player as part of the settlement, as per reports.
Liverpool's move for Guehi now in jeopardy
Marc Guehi’s proposed transfer from Crystal Palace to Liverpool is in jeopardy, as per The Athletic, as talks between the centre-back and manager Oliver Glasner continue to make a final decision. Guehi completed at least part of his medical in London after a fee of £35million was agreed to take the 25-year-old to Anfield, with personal terms in place on a five-year contract.
But difficulties sourcing an adequate replacement have increased Glasner’s pre-existing opposition to the sale of his captain and an outcome is expected following discussions between the pair. Glasner has been resolute that Guehi should not be allowed to leave unless suitable cover arrives.

Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly received a whopping €70 million offer for Jean-Matteo Bahoya from a Saudi Arabian club but swiftly turned it down.
Frankfurt received an astounding bid of €70m (£61m/$82m) from an unnamed Saudi club. Man Utd pick Lammens over Martinez! £18m transfer agreement
Manchester United appear to have picked Senne Lammens over Emi Martinez in the goalkeeping department, with an £18 million ($24m) transfer agreed, according to The Athletic.
The Red Devils have been in the market for a new No.1 throughout the summer, with Andre Onana failing to convince across his two seasons as first-choice at Old Trafford. Back-up keeper Altay Bayindir has also made mistakes when called upon. World Cup winner Martinez was a top target for United at one stage, with the Argentina international seemingly open to trading one Premier League outfit for another. He is, however, still on the books at Aston Villa.
Spurs in contact with PSG over unwanted striker
According to Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have got in touch with PSG after considering a move for Kolo Muani. Jackson's cancelled Bayern move BACK ON!
News has emerged that "top secret negotiations" have brought life back to Nicolas Jackson's proposed switch to Bayern, reported by Sky Sport Germany's Florian Plettenberg. Those talks continue to be "ongoing" just hours after the deal was considered dead.
The original deal was so advanced that Jackson had travelled to Munich to complete his move, having fallen to the bottom of Chelsea's striker pecking order after summer arrivals of Joao Pedro and Liam Delap. But the latter getting injured during Saturday's Premier League win over Fulham changed things and Chelsea decided to back out. Jackson's camp didn't appear to take the news well and agent Diomansy Kamara teased that they would continue to push anyway. Chelsea then seemed to take measures that would make it possible to resurrect the deal by recalling young striker Marc Guiu from his only recently concluded loan to Sunderland.
