Manchester United have completed the signing of goalkeeper Senne Lammens from Belgian Pro League side Royal Antwerp.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Lammens, 23, has signed a five-year deal with the Red Devils after a fee of £18.2m (€21 m/$24.5m) plus £3.4m (€4m/$4.6m) in add-ons was agreed between the two clubs, according to The Athletic. The report states there is no sell-on clause included in the deal.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Lammens will provide competition for goalkeepers Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir, who have made costly mistakes in United’s opening three games in all competitions. Onana made errors for both goals as Ruben Amorim's men lost 12-11 on penalties to League Two side Grimsby Town following a 2-2 draw in the Carabao Cup. Meanwhile Bayindir failed to command his box as Riccardo Calafiori headed home in the 1-0 defeat against Arsenal on August 17, while he was also at fault for Jaidon Anthony's effort in the 3-2 victory over Burnley on Saturday.
WHAT DID LAMMENS SAY
Speaking to United's official club website, Lammens said of his move to Old Trafford: “I am extremely proud to be joining Manchester United; it is a real dream come true. The past few years have been an amazing journey; it’s now ended in an incredible destination and hopefully the beginning of something special.
“You can feel the positive atmosphere that is being created here, and I know that I can make a real impact at the club in the coming years. I cannot wait to get to know my team-mates and begin working with Ruben and the coaching staff. This is the perfect place to keep developing, grow together with this exciting team and achieve my career objectives.”
DID YOU KNOW?
Standing at 6ft 4in (193cm) tall, Lammens made 64 appearances in all competitions for Antwerp, helping them win the Belgian Super Cup in 2023. The shot-stopper is yet to make his senior debut for the Belgium national team, though he was called up to the squad for the World Cup qualifying double header against North Macedonia and Wales in June.
