Manchester United v West Ham United FC: Premier League Summer Series
Kobbie Mainoo is determined to leave Manchester United before the summer transfer window shuts on September 1. The young midfielder, who has fallen out of favour under manager Ruben Amorim, appeared for United for the first time this season against Grimsby Town in the Carabao Cup. He was, however, back on the bench in the club's 3-2 Premier League win over Burnley on Saturday.
WHAT HAPPENED?
According to The Daily Mail, Mainoo remains determined to leave his boyhood club this summer as he is reportedly disillusioned and frustrated with his lack of game time under Amorim. After appearing for the first time in the 2025-26 campaign in the Carabao Cup second round fixture against Grimsby Town last week, Mainoo once again started on the bench during Saturday's Premier League clash against Burnley.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
Mainoo wants to secure a loan move away from Old Trafford before the summer transfer window shuts on Monday as he wants to play regularly and seal his place in the England squad for the World Cup in North America next year. The Red Devils, on the other hand, are firm on their stance that they won't allow the midfielder to leave unless they find a suitable replacement.
DID YOU KNOW?
Mainoo featured in the Burnley clash after Matheus Cunha suffered an injury. With Bruno Fernandes promoted as a No.10, the youngster took the captain's position in central midfield. While the extent of Cunha's injury remains unknown, it seemed like the Brazilian sustained a hamstring blow and could spend a significant amount of time on the sidelines.

WHAT NEXT FOR MAINOO?
It remains to be seen if Amorim sanctions Mainoo's exit after Cunha's injury as it seems Fernandes will have to be deployed in a more attacking role going forward. The young midfielder has attracted interest from clubs like Marseille and Napoli.
