Borussia Dortmund sign Wolves outcast Fabio Silva after he earns just 5 goals in 72 games

Fabio Silva is now a Dortmund player

Borussia Dortmund on Friday announced the signing of Portugal striker Fabio Silva from Wolves, the Bundesliga club's fifth recruit from the Premier League this summer.

Silva joins for a reported fee of 22.5 million euros plus bonuses on a deal which runs until 2030.

The 23-year-old had not played for Wolves this season after suffering a hamstring injury.

He has not appeared for the English club since November 2023, after loan spells at Rangers and Las Palmas, for whom he scored 10 LaLiga goals last season.

Silva, who has one cap for Portugal, could be available for Dortmund's home Bundesliga match against Union Berlin on Sunday.

"I know Dortmund as a passionate club with incredible fans. Now being a part of the club myself fills me with pride and great anticipation," Silva said in a statement.

After sneaking into the last Champions League spot on the final day of last season, Dortmund have been busy in the transfer window.

Jobe Bellingham joined from Sunderland, Carney Chukwuemeka and Aaron Anselmino came in from Chelsea, and Manchester City wing-back Yan Couto made his loan deal permanent.

Silva joined Wolves from Porto in 2020 for a club record fee of 40 million euros at the age of 18.

Thrown into the squad earlier than expected due to an injury to Raul Jimenez, Silva struggled to adapt, scoring just five goals in 72 appearances.

Silva also spent spells on loan at Anderlecht and PSV Eindhoven.
