Kobbie Mainoo Informs Manchester United of Desire to Leave on Loan

Kobbie Mainoo has reportedly informed Manchester United that he wishes to leave the club on loan to seek more regular playing time.

The 20-year-old has fallen down the pecking order at Old Trafford with manager Ruben Amorim seemingly unable to find a place for him in his preferred tactical system.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Mainoo has now informed Man United of his desire to leave the club on loan for the remainder of the 2025-26 season.

It’s understood that the England international has no desire to leave the club permanently but rather leave on a temporary basis in order to earn regular first team football.

United have turned down his request, however, and expect Mainoo to continue fighting for his place at the club.

Amorim is under immense pressure at the club following their defeat to League Two side Grimsby in their Carabao Cup second round on Wednesday (August 27).

German giants Bayern Munich have made contact with United over a potential loan move, while Erik ten Hag’s Bayer Leverkusen have also registered an interest.
