Chelsea are reportedly ready to let Nicolas Jackson leave the club on loan in order to clear space for new arrivals.

WHAT HAPPENED?

According to TalkSPORT, Jackson will be allowed to exit Stamford Bridge on loan this transfer window as long as they receive a £10 million loan fee. Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich have reportedly reached an agreement with Jackson already, but Chelsea are holding out on a sizeable payment as part of any loan deal. The club's desire to sign Manchester United wantaway Alejandro Garnacho (potentially for a bargain fee of £25m) means they're happy for Jackson to leave in order to create extra squad space.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Speculation around Jackson's future ramped up with the arrival of forwards Joao Pedro and Liam Delap this summer, with the Senegal international left further down the pecking order as a result. This is despite a solid start to life at Chelsea — Jackson showed plenty of promise in 2024/25, and his goal tally reached double figures in both his first two seasons in the Premier League.

WHAT BAYERN MUNICH SAID

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund has refused to bat away rumours about his club's interest in Jackson, telling reporters: "I'm not denying anything. There are a lot of names floating around. The transfer window is open until next Monday, and anything can still happen before then."

WHAT NEXT FOR JACKSON?

At this point, the 24-year-old will be desperate to complete a move away from West London. While reports suggest that he isn't yet training with Chelsea's so-called 'bomb squad', boss Enzo Maresca has been clear that Jackson is free to leave, and in this context a move to the German champions is likely to be tempting, even if it means competing with Harry Kane for game time.
