Former Manchester derby rivals Pep Guardiola and Erik ten Hag are reportedly battling it out in the race to sign €70m Rated Monaco star Maghnes Akliouche.

According to Florian Plettenberg, City have reignited their interest in the 23-year-old, who is said to be Bayer Leverkusen’s “dream target”.

City look set to undergo an attacking overhaul in the final weeks of the transfer window, with Jack Grealish already gone and James McAtee and Savinho looking to follow suit.

Monaco value Akliouche at €70 million and is seen by City as is seen as a cheaper alternative to Real Madrid’s Rodrygo, who could cost around €100m.

Leverkusen remain keen on bringing the winger to the Bundesliga but it remains to be seen whether Ten Hag’s side would be willing to meet the asking price.
