Inter Miami CF v FC Dallas
Charlotte FC have reportedly reached an agreement with Inter Miami to sign Callender, bringing in the former MLS Goalkeeper of the Year finalist
WHAT HAPPENED
Charlotte FC have reportedly secured a deal to acquire goalkeeper Drake Callender from Inter Miami CF. According to Tom Bogert, the MLS side has added the established shot-stopper to their roster in a move that strengthens their goalkeeping department. Per the report, Callender was surprised by his destination, having not been consulted during the negotiation process between the two clubs.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Charlotte already boast reigning MLS Goalkeeper of the Year Kristijan Kahlina, who is under contract through 2026 with a club option for 2027. Still, the team saw the move as a chance to further bolster its depth in net. However, it leaves Callender in a similar position to where he was in Miami - fighting for minutes.
DID YOU KNOW?
Callender has been called up by the U.S. men's national team in 2023, but has yet to make an appearance for the Americans.
