Liverpool and Arsenal dealt huge blow as Rodrygo is set to stay at Real Madrid
Rodrgyo has been strongly linked with a move to the Premier League this summer but he is now set to stay at Real Madrid ahead of the new campaign.
The emergence of the Kylian Mbapp9-VinDcius JFAnior-Jude Bellingham trio for the La Liga giants has reduced the role Rodrygo has at Madrid and this has led to constant transfer links away from Los Blancos who have been open to a sale despite a lack of bids.0
Now, according to Spanish outlet AS, Rodrygo is now "banking" on a stay with Madrid and the player has not conveyed any other message as to whether he wants to leave and venture elsewhere. This is despite the 24 year old’s limited involvement during the Club World Cup under new manager Xabi Alonso who many thought would help the Brazilian international back into the side.0
Alonso used Rodrygo just once in his starting line-up at the Club World Cup, leading to links to Arsenal and Liverpool who were both in need of a world class winger at the time. Since then, Bayern Munich have snapped up Luis Diaz from The Reds which leaves a gap for Rodrygo which he clearly isn’t interested in filling.0
With a month to go before the transfer window closes, the situation could change, and sources suggested that if he does depart the side then the Premier League is the ideal location. Reports state that Madrid view a potential Rodrygo exit as an opportunity to fund defensive reinforcements and may force a sale to free up finances to invest elsewhere.0
Rodrygo’s current contract with the Spanish giants runs through to June 2028 and Madrid have never pushed him towards the exit door as of yet. However, that could change as the season approaches and Alonso studies his team for weaknesses that may need to be sold with more new signings.0
