Sevilla dealt injury blow as Ejuke suffers setback

Sevilla have announced that Nigeria international Chidera Ejuke has sustained a thigh injury.

The Spanish club shared the update via their official X handle on Saturday, ahead of their friendly clash with Marseille.

“Ejuke suffers a thigh injury, ruling him out of tonight’s match against Marseille,” the statement read. “Get well soon, Chidi!”

Ejuke joined Sevilla as a free agent last summer and made 25 appearances in La Liga last season, scoring two goals and providing one assist. He was also named the club’s Player of the Month for September 2024.

The 26-year-old’s injury comes as Sevilla look to improve on a disappointing 2024/25 campaign, in which they narrowly avoided relegation. The Andalusian side finished 17th with 41 points — just one point clear of the drop zone.
