Alexander Isak Weighs 'Nuclear Option' to Force Liverpool Transfer as Newcastle Striker Trains Alone

Alexander Isak is reportedly considering a dramatic move to force through a transfer to Liverpool, with the wantaway Newcastle striker currently training alone.

The 25-year-old is currently training alone in Spain after deciding not to on Newcastle’s tour of Asia due to a thigh injury.

According to The Mirror, that might not be the case, and Isak may have opted out the tour in order to engineer a move to Liverpool.

Newcastle are demanding a British record transfer fee from Liverpool, currently valuing the Sweden international at 3150 million.

Isak is understood to be furious with their valuation of him and could consider the ‘nuclear option’ of unilaterally terminating his contract.

This potential ‘nuclear option’ has become more possible following a landmark ruling by the European Court of Justice in 2023.

The court ruled in favour of former Chelsea and Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra in a case that contested several of FIFA’s long-established transfer regulations.

The ruling found that certain restrictions imposed on players were incompatible with European Union law, especially in relation to labor mobility and anti-competitive practices.
