Haaland suggests that Man City will clear the 115 charges: They will sort it out...
Erling Haaland has backed Manchester City, who are facing more than 100 charges of alleged breaches of Premier League financial regulations.
The charges span from the 2009/10 to the 2017/18 seasons and could lead to fines, points deductions, or even expulsion from the league in what has been a long running saga to which not many questions have been answered as fans await a verdict.0
Recently the Premier League CEO Richard Masters insisted “the rules are clear” when asked for an update on Manchester City’s FFP case which suggests that City will face consequences for breaking financial rules if found guilty.0
However, the Norwegian striker spoke to TIME magazine this week and revealed that he backs City and believes that they will survive the charges that could ruin the club.0
“I spoke with the bosses, and in the end, I believe them. It’s such a tricky situation for me to even sit there and speak about, because I wasn’t really involved in it. I think the club knows what they’re doing. They will sort it out.”0
Back in March, he was asked a similar question and again confirmed that he believes the club will survive the charges that have suppressed the success the club has had in recent years. 0
“I’m obviously not afraid of that if I sign a 9.5-year contract,” the forward said, as quoted by Fotball Norge. “I’ve answered that 300 times, why I signed a 9.5-year contract. It’s because I talked with the club (Manchester City) and got a good feeling (about the verdict).”0
Manager Pep Guardiola has always been defensive about the charges, suggesting City are innocent as he spoke earlier this year about the situation.0
“I do not agree, but my words will not convince people that our attributes are (not) just being in a wealthy position,” he said in February.0
“In the last five years, we are the last team in the top six for net-spend. Even after what we have spent in this transfer window, we are away from Chelsea, (Manchester) United, Arsenal, Tottenham, even from Liverpool.0
“The reason why is we have sold a lot in the last seasons but, even with that, I know (what people say about) this club, it is always ‘just about the money’.0
“Respect the other ones but in one month I think there will be a verdict and a sentence and after we will see my opinion of what happened so far. Still, at the end, every club can do whatever they want.”0
