Unwanted Chelsea Defender Agrees to Atletico Madrid Move as Club Talks Continue

Chelsea defender Renato Veiga has reportedly given the green light to a move to Atletico Madrid, with discussions between the two clubs currently ongoing.

The 21-year-old is one of several Chelsea players who have been told to find a new club this summer, despite only joining from Basel last July.

Veiga grew frustrated with his limited chances with the Premier League club throughout the first half of the season before pushing for a loan move in January.

He subsequently ended up at Juventus, where he impressed, making 15 appearances across all competitions for the Italian giants.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Portugal international has now said “yes” to a move to Atletico Madrid, with the two clubs now in negotiations over a fee.

Chelsea are said to be insisting on a €40 million package with add-ons included, marking an impressive profit on the €14 million they spent to purchase Veiga.
