Kylian Mbappe has withdrawn his legal complaint for moral harassment and attempted extortion against Paris Saint-Germain, just days before facing his former club in the Club World Cup semi-final. However, the Real Madrid superstar continues to pursue €55 million in unpaid wages through France’s labor courts, keeping his financial battle with Les Parisiens alive.
WHAT HAPPENED?
Mbappe’s lawyers confirmed on Monday that they have dropped a criminal complaint accusing Paris Saint-Germain of moral harassment and attempted extortion. The complaint, filed in May, related to the French club’s treatment of Mbappe during his contract standoff in 2023, which included being excluded from the squad and training alone.

THE BIGGER PICTURE
The 26-year-old Real Madrid star is still pressing forward with a separate appeal before France’s industrial tribunal to recover €55 million (£47.6m/$64.4m) in unpaid wages and bonuses from the final months of his Paris Saint-Germain contract, as per L'Equipe. This financial dispute has remained a major source of tension between the player and the club’s hierarchy. Despite the friction that has been occurring since last summer, Mbappe maintains that he holds no ill will toward PSG fans or former teammates.

Mbappe initially filed the harassment complaint after being sent to PSG’s 'loft' group, a practice used to isolate players, during 2023’s pre-season. The treatment triggered personal trauma related to previous career hardships and ultimately led to legal action, as per the report. Interestingly, Mbappe had briefly retired from legal pursuit before reigniting efforts in April to recoup unpaid salary and bonuses.

WHAT NEXT FOR MBAPPE?
The France captain will now shift his focus to the Club World Cup semi-final clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, June 9 — his first match against the French giants since joining Real Madrid. Though the criminal case has been dropped, the legal battle between Mbappe and PSG is far from over.
